The passing of filmmaker Sue Marx of Birmingham, who produced more than 200 films and won an Oscar for Best Documentary Short in 1988, was noted Sunday night at the Academy Awards during the Memoriam segment that pays tribute to those in the industry who recently died.
Marx died last July 17 at her home. She was 92.
In 1987, she produced “Young at Heart,” a 29-minute documentary film on relationship between her father, Louis Gothelf, and his second wife, Reva Shwayder, both artists who had lost a spouse. The next year, she won an Oscar for that film.
"From Hollywood, hooray for Michigan,” she said during her acceptance speech.
